Dragon’s Nectar Tea
The Idea
Although Dragon’s Nectar is a relatively new company - we were only founded in early 2025 - our roots go back further to an idea formulated back in 2017:
Would it be possible to use new growing and processing techniques, along with the wealth of Tea Camellia diversity that nature has gifted to us, to produce teas with lower caffeine content, whilst maintaining the other health benefits and without sacrificing flavour profile?
To achieve this, we have developed growing protocols under controlled conditions in the upper reaches of the Rhondda Valley in South Wales. We use cultivars with lowered caffeine concentration, control over the light spectra, nutrition and other factors to enhance the metabolic qualities we want from the leaf.
We process using standard techniques, but with a few special tweaks here and there. Our goal is to ensure that we guide the retention and transformation of the metabolite backbone that we have produced through our growing efforts.
Our first demo batches are now being produced, and we hope to have larger volumes available in late 2026 into early 2027.
Why we support ESTA
We are excited about the potential of ESTA to provide a platform for the promotion and further consumer adoption of high-quality speciality teas. There is such a diversity of beyond the recent trends in Matcha and, more recently, Hojicha. We believe that there is still a huge opportunity to bring a wider tea experience to consumers in the same way that coffee has developed over the past three decades.
We would love to learn more about what other ESTA members and tea-enthusiasts beyond are doing and feel free to connect if you’re interested in what we are doing! You can contact us at info@dragonsnectartea.com
