TRILLIANT TEA INDUSTRY
As a Taiwan tea producer and exporter, Trilliant Tea Industry has abundant experiences in handling tea related business affairs as well as the global trades due to its management teams.
The story of TTI mirrors the essence of Taiwan's tea industry on a smaller scale. Our factory is located in TaiXin (AliShan district, Chiayi County; the birthplace of the Taiwan high mountain teas), where we have decades-long partnerships with local tea pickers, estates owners, and supply chains. From cultivar selection and soil maintenance to garden management and seamless collaboration among various personnel, we have built solid cooperative relations and reliable reputations. Our tea makers are very experienced and possess a profound and comprehensive understanding of traditional production skills. This expertise enables us to adjust the handling methods and techniques to overcome the growing challenges posed by the extreme weather while maintaining the stability of the quality when producing different varieties of oolong in different seasons.
Except being served neat, Taiwanese oolong tea has been widely used in the commercial sector for over 20 years. TTI has extensive experience in many of those fields, including supplying bubble tea shops, ready-to-drink bottled tea factories and brand carriers for tea blending. The beverage market requires a distinct domain knowhow, requiring knowledge of specific cultivars, production methods, quality testing, packaging, and application techniques that differ significantly from traditional artisan tea practices. And that is an area where we also excel.
Our core competency lies in the integration and knowledge management. By continuous learning, we are able to build up effective operational frameworks to support our daily jobs and innovations of work patterns. For example, we have launched flavor quadrants, which are designed to showcase the production process and its corresponding flavor attributes. Flavor wheels are excellent at presenting the attributes of flavors statically; however, the flavors of teas consist of (1) tastes (2) aromas (3) textures, which are decided by enzyme activities, withering and hydro emissions. And we know that a comprehensive and intuitive chart which illustrates the entire tea production process can actively provide readers with a clear understanding of how each tea is made as well as setting correct expectations for its flavors. Besides, the adaption of this chart can bring a sense of human warmth to artisan tea, allowing the uniqueness of each tea to be vividly interpreted; through the chart, each tea interacts with the consumer, imbuing it with a distinctive and captivating vitality.

Meet the Producers
From its inception the European Speciality tea Association (then European Tea Society) recognised the importance of engaging with tea producers, both in Europe and around the world. For speciality this is where it all begins, marrying passion with best practices in both cultivation and then processing to ensure a fantastic sensory tea experience in the cup.
It may well surprise some that Europe is even mentioned in a piece about tea production, but there are between 70 and 80 tea gardens in Europe from at least 16 difference countries, from Denmark in the north to Spain in the south. All of them relatively small, many of them concentrating on speciality and a good number of them using organic techniques.
The European Speciality Tea Association has taken that recognition of the importance of tea growers by launching a new category of membership specifically for producers. Each producer member will be able to have access to a document written by the President, Nigel Melican, called Guidelines for small-scale tea production. These words are taken from the introduction to the guide: “There are very few Golden Rules to tea production; we can rarely say that under all conditions this or that is the Right Way or Wrong Way – but for every individual set of conditions, there is always the Best Way. These Tea Guidelines, based on 40 years of work in the industry spent seeking out the best ways, are written as an aide-memoire to the key tasks and actions, and some tips to help you choose the best way to avoid the many potential mistakes commonly made when starting the journey.”
As an association we really hope that we will be able to play our part in promoting speciality tea and improving quality right at the beginning of the tea journey.
