THE DANISH CHAPTER

The Danish chapter of European Speciality Tea Association, formerly known as Danish Tea Association or in Danish, Dansk Tesammenslutning, has been promoting speciality tea in Denmark through education, competitions, and participation at food fairs and cultural festivals since 2014. This has turned out to be a rather tough task considering the predominantly coffee-oriented culture of Scandinavia.

The chapter has throughout the years established a solid network in the tea-industry in many Asian countries, is present with keynote speakers at conferences on sustainable agriculture and consumerism and has participated in the foundation of organisations for international cooperation within the tea-industry.

Our vision is to be the leading knowledge center of speciality tea in Denmark, - for enthusiasts as well as tea businesses, and to stimulate diversity of choice as a customer within the hospitality industry when it comes to tea. We want to make each cup of tea a satisfying experience.

Our main activities are Tea Masters Cup Denmark, to organize online and real-life events for members as well advocate speciality tea and make our business members visible to existing and future tea-drinkers. We celebrate Chinese New Year (Cha Hua Hui) as well as UN International Tea Day annually. We will also provide support to the establishment of the first Danish tea garden at Mols Bjerge National Park (2021).

We value sustainable agriculture, sound working conditions for tea-workers, excellent craftsmanship and tea-production without the use of harmful chemical cocktails.

We are pleased to now be a part of ESTA and look forward to increasing our activities and promotion of speciality tea both in Denmark and also throughout Europe.
