Elisa Moratello

With a passion for tea and a deep commitment to elevating its culture, I’m Elisa Moratello, digital communication expert and founder of Teatips, an Italian tea company established in 2019. My mission is to spread awareness about the beauty of real loose-leaf tea sourced from artisanal producers and to inspire a deeper connection with tea through education and sensory experiences.

As a specialist in tea education and pairings, I work closely with chocolate tasters, wine experts, and coffee professionals to highlight the versatility and richness of tea. In 2020, I created Italy’s first Tea Club, offering a curated seasonal box featuring small-batch teas from around the world. This initiative reflects my dedication to making tea accessible and exciting while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

My journey in the tea world is enriched by certifications as a Tea Evaluator recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHRSS) of Chinese government and as Tea Champion with the UK Tea Academy. These qualifications and the ones I am currently achieving support my efforts to educate people about tea tasting and food pairings, challenging the perception that tea is boring or just something for a small and closed elite.

Through my work, I aim to make tea a vibrant part of everyday life—one that celebrates quality, flavor, and tradition in every sip. I’m thrilled to contribute to ESTA’s mission of advancing the speciality tea community.

Good & Proper is a premium tea brand and a certified B Corp, on a mission to show the world how good tea can be, when it’s done properly.

Though tea remains the nation’s favourite hot drink, the quality on offer is, more often than not, distinctly average. After being continually disappointed by the poor quality of tea in London, Emilie Holmes decided to do something about it and founded Good & Proper in 2012.

Since then, we have grown from our first crowd-funded mobile tea bar (converted from a 1974 Citroën-H van) and flagship Tea Bar on Leather Lane, to now supplying the UK's finest hospitality operators and a growing community of tea-drinkers at home. Most recently Good & Proper was the proud, exclusive tea supplier to The Championships, Wimbledon, and we will support them with their tea offering again in 2025.

We focus on carefully sourcing premium-quality, single-origin, whole leaf teas from suppliers aligning with our values. Our award-winning collection of loose leaf and tea bags includes blacks, oolongs, greens and white teas, as well as a range of herbal infusions. We then support our customers - whether cafes, restaurants, hotels, workspaces or at-home customers - to brew the best possible cup every time.

Our founder Emilie still tastes every batch of tea herself, and she recently joined the esteemed judging panel at The Leafies International Tea Awards 2024, as well as ESTA’s Matcha Latte Art Competition at Caffe Culture 2023.

We see our role at Good & Proper as introducing delicious, speciality teas to a wider audience, and inspiring and transforming the way consumers in the UK think about and drink tea. The role of ESTA in inspiring excellence in speciality tea is therefore very aligned, so we are proud to support their invaluable work.
