Kilimanjaro Speciality Teas

Tea our story

We are Germans, living in Tanzania for 30 Years. We are actually coffee farmers on Mt Kilimanjaro! I was always wondering why there is no tea production on Kilimanjaro, but did not get satisfying answers. So I decided to make a trial and planted a small tea garden with seedlings that I brought from the nearby Usambara Mountains. As you know, Tanzania does mainly CTC.
Since our Coffee is grown and produced organically, out tea is of course also organic right from planting. The tea garden is located between a natural spring and a river, providing a unique Micro Climate!

My aim was to make orthodox tea. I started by making trials in my kitchen with a small fruit dryer after I was able to harvest the first leaf.
Today, we are selling tea directly into many countries. Social Media ( IG ) helped a lot to raise awareness, that Tanzania can actually produce speciality tea! Even if on a micro scale, but all the more special! Even within Tanzania and Kenya we are now selling very well, which took a while as people are Chai drinkers here!

We have now been producing tea for 9 Years and have a range of teas that is quite extensive for such a small Tea Garden! This is because I believe in creating new styles all the time! We have a range of Green teas, Oolongs and Black, as well as Silver Needles! But as we are also coffee producers, we are making a very tasty range of Teas from coffee leaf, as well as a range of 9 blends from Tea Leaf, Coffee Leaf and coffee Flowers as well as Coffee beans!
