Nepal Tea Collective
At Nepal Tea Collective, our family has crafted tea in the eastern mountains of Nepal for over four decades. Grown between 4,000 and 8,000 feet, our teas embody the Himalayan essence, shaped by the unique microclimate of its origin.
We are a social enterprise run by second and third generation tea producers connecting tea farmers and conscious consumers through transparent trade, sustainable growth, and shared prosperity. Our family tea estate, Kanchanjanga Tea Estate and Research Center (KTERC), became the first certified organic tea estate in Nepal in 1984. This marked the beginning of our ongoing journey toward sustainability and impact. Today, as a certified Public Benefit Corporation and B Corp with a score of 114.3, we have woven our commitment to people and the planet into the very fabric of our business.
Nepal's landlocked geography has historically limited its access to fair-trade global markets, leading to vicious cycles of poverty for tea farmers. In 2016, Nishchal Banskota founded Nepal Tea Collective with an audacious mission, to lift one million farmers out of poverty by 2050 while establishing a global identity for Nepali tea. We go beyond selling tea to create measurable impact by reinvesting 1% of our revenue into tea-growing communities, offering full scholarships for farmers’ children, and providing leadership and skill-building training for women in tea. We also host annual tea tours to promote sustainable tea tourism and create additional income for local producers.
Transparency remains central to our mission. Each tea package carries a QR code that allows customers to trace their tea from planting to packaging and directly tip the farmers who crafted it. This radical transparency and tangible social impact make Nepal Tea Collective more than a tea brand; we are using tea as a vehicle for social change, creating a movement that connects conscious consumers with the people and purpose behind every cup. Together, we are brewing a better tomorrow.
