Rosyth Artisanal Tea
A New Chapter in Sri Lanka’s Tea Heritage
Nestled amidst the lush low-country hills of Sri Lanka, Rosyth Estate carries a legacy steeped in the island’s most celebrated tradition — Ceylon tea. Blessed with Sri Lanka’s unique tropical climate and rich soils, the estate lies within the Pahata Rata or “Low Country” tea-growing region, where altitudes between sea level and 2,000 feet nurture bold, full-bodied teas renowned for their deep color and hearty flavor.
For decades, Rosyth Estate Single Origin Tea was crafted in our local factory, perched 1,000 feet above sea level. From its early days in 1930, this factory produced fine Orange Pekoe (OP) grades, handpicked and expertly processed to perfection. The finest pekoe leaves — prized for their wholeness, clarity, and smooth flavor — have long been cherished in Middle Eastern and Russian markets, where robust low-grown teas command some of the highest prices at Colombo’s renowned tea auctions.
Yet, as the world of tea evolves, so too does Rosyth.
Reimagining Tradition - The Birth of Rosyth Artisanal Tea
At Rosyth Estate House, we have embraced a new vision - one that honors our heritage while redefining the art of tea making. Moving away from the mechanized methods that have dominated the industry since the colonial era, we are crafting tea the way nature intended: by hand, with heart, and with purpose.
Our journey towards becoming an organic, artisanal tea producer begins right here on the estate. Every leaf is handpicked and hand-rolled by our skilled local artisans, using techniques passed down through generations yet revived with a renewed sense of craftsmanship. The result is a tea that captures not just the essence of the leaf, but also the soul of the land and the hands that nurture it.
A Community at the Heart of Every Cup
Rosyth Artisanal Tea is more than just a beverage - it’s a story of community and shared prosperity. We have built our own micro tea factory on the estate, where our artisans work closely together to perfect each small batch of tea. This initiative is deeply community-focused, designed to empower and uplift the families who have long been part of our valley’s tea heritage.
Every individual involved in our tea production is a partner in our mission - not merely a worker. In recognition of their dedication and craftsmanship, our partners share 10% of the revenue generated from tea sales. Through this model, we aim to build a sustainable future, ensuring that the growth of Rosyth Artisanal Tea directly contributes to the prosperity of the people who make it possible.
Crafted with Purpose, Sipped with Pride
Each cup of Rosyth Artisanal Tea tells a story - of fertile low-country soil, of heritage reborn, and of a community united by a shared dream. From handpicked leaves to hand-rolled perfection, our teas embody authenticity, sustainability, and the timeless beauty of Sri Lanka’s tea culture.
Rosyth Artisanal Tea invites you to taste the difference - a cup infused with care, tradition, and hope for a flourishing tomorrow.
