Set within the lush landscapes of Sri Lanka’s Sabaragamuwa province, SereneTea Gardens is a small, independent artisanal tea garden dedicated to producing handcrafted teas with a deep respect for nature, tradition, and mindfulness. More than a tea producer, SereneTea is a journey into serenity—where every leaf tells a story of care, patience, and place.
At its heart lies a commitment to small-batch, fully hand-made tea. From fine leaf plucking to withering, hand-rolling, oxidation, and drying, each step is carried out with precision to bring out the unique character of the leaf. This hands-on approach results in teas that are expressive, nuanced, and deeply connected to their origin.
Working with carefully selected cultivars and continually experimenting with processing styles, SereneTea explores a diverse range of artisanal teas—from elegant black teas to delicately crafted green teas inspired by traditional methods. Their blooming black tea, awarded 1-star at the Great Taste Awards 2025, reflects this spirit of innovation grounded in tradition.
Sustainability is central to their philosophy. As recipients of the Leafies GAIA Award 2025, SereneTea is experimenting with organic and regenerative practices across small sections of the garden, nurturing both soil and ecosystem. The garden also supports its local community, with a predominantly women-led team playing a vital role in crafting each tea.
Looking ahead, SereneTea Gardens is evolving into a space where visitors can experience tea in its purest form—through mindful stays, hands-on tea making, and a deeper connection with nature.
