Oscar Goh

Having spent half his life in the hospitality and service industry, it’s been almost 10 years since Oscar delved into the specialty coffee scene. He vividly remembers the first time he took a sip of blue mountain coffee that his father brought back home, how the taste lingered and he yearned for more. During the time that coffee chains and cafes were up and rising, he realised that each type of coffee had their own uniqueness, but many consumers were unaware and unable to appreciate it to the fullest.

Since joining Bettr, he found greater meaning in educating not only the general public, but also helping the marginalized community discover their potential through training. “People, coffee and tea keeps me going. There’s the 5Cs that are important to me - communication, connections, culture, camellia sinensis and coffee. With communication, you’ll be able to impact, connect, and build strong relationships bound by coffee and tea!”

In his free time he practices tea ceremonies to escape the caffeine high from coffee. It is through the “Tao” of tea where he truly enjoys the art of brewing tea. Through the practicum of ceremonies to prepare, present and the understanding of tea leaf to cup allows him to refine virtues of patience, manners, empathy, will and ergonomics. “ I wish to share my love of tea and coffee to everyone I meet. With more people who appreciate these beverages, that’s where the industry can reach new heights from farmers, brewers and to consumers .”
