Collaboration is led by Fred Hollamby-Jones from UK

Fred started his career in 1978 with Brooke Bond working in the Tea Chemistry department. Working initially with the Indian Tea Research Board and the Kenyan Tea Development Agency his focus was on developing advanced analytical techniques for profiling tea composition and quality. Over time a move into process development led to specialising in extraction and instantisation processes.

A move to Lyons Tetley as Tea Development Manager provided the opportunity to work on valued added tea products leading to the creation of a number of Iced Tea products launched globally.

Fred headed drinks development for the Mars Corporation with responsibility for RTD and out of home vended tea and coffee products.

For the past 20 years he has operated a consultancy specialising in drinks and has supported many tea product and brand developments.

Fred continues to have a passion for all tea products.

As chair of the Collaboration sub committee of the R&D group Fred’s vision is to develop close links that support projects that advance tea and the speciality tea industry. Working closely with brand owners, universities, research partners and the tea industry the focus and aim will be to identify issues and opportunities where scientific, technical or processing knowledge or research activity are required to generate innovative solutions.
